Gas, ads and an old Reno pool hall

I've been noticing things and wondering about them lately:
  • Gas prices at the Mill and Terminal Quik Stop are often lower than those at the Rock/Pembroke and McCarran Quik Stop. Tonight they were 4 cents lower.
  • Even with the lowest prices in weeks ($3.89 for regular and $3.99 for mid grade), the station had only a couple of customers. I love it. I hope people continue doing what they've finally started doing to use less fuel.
  • Speaking of gas prices, most stations are still pricing their different grades 10 cents apart, but I'm starting to see a few exceptions.
  • The August issue of Sunset magazine is much slimmer than usual. Is it having trouble selling home improvement ads?
  • The RGJ still hasn't corrected the typo in the Atlantis ad on its home page. It's said "Win radomly" for weeks now. (Of course, now that I'm trying to verify that, it's not on the site at the moment.)
  • Leaving JJ's Pie Co. on 5th Street a couple of Friday nights ago, I noticed the Keystone Cue and Cushion parking lot was empty. Yesterday I saw an ad for an auction tomorrow for everything from the place, which it says had been in business for 46 years. It also says all the electrical materials had been stripped from the building by thieves. I haven't seen any news about when the business closed or why.
