Can we not canonize TV journalists? Please?

Of course Tony Snow's death is a loss to his family, friends and fans, and I am sympathetic to them. He was a human being as well as a controversial commentator and Bush defender. Dying at 53 of cancer is a tragedy in itself.

May I say, however, that I hope we don't see a eulogy marathon for him like the one we endured after Saint Tim Russert's death? I'd heard all I was interested in within a couple of hours of the announcement of Russert's death, but his colleagues wallowed in it for days. The drama of his funeral rivaled that of President Reagan's.

What I got out of all of the eulogies was Russert was a really nice guy who was lucky enough to have a job he loved and did well. Did we have to hear it eight million times? Besides, I didn't think he did his job so well in some of the presidential primary debates this year.

Luckily I never watch the Fox News Channel, so I hope I escape most of the Tony Snow canonization.

    Totally agree.

The sad part is that the mourning is done for people who helped lie to America about the War and other issues.

Do they really need to be canonized for that?
