John Edwards agrees with me!

John EdwardsThe day after Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton won most of the delegates in Nevada's caucuses, I wrote,"Edwards has said fighting for the working people/middle class is his life's mission and he will do that whether he is elected president or not. I plan to continue to support him in whatever he does. Jimmy Carter and Al Gore have shown how much a person can accomplish outside the presidency."

Last night I was flipping through TV channels just before I went to bed and heard Jay Leno mention Adam Carolla was going to be on his show. I couldn't miss that, so I stayed up. I learned later that Carolla won't be on until tonight, but I caught something better—an appearance by John Edwards. It was good to see him again!

He still didn't express a preference for either Obama or Clinton. He said he'd met with Al Gore; he praised him but said he would keep their conversation private. Instead, he told the story he told the day he withdrew from the race. As he was driving through New Orleans on his way to the press conference, he stopped to talk to some people living under a bridge and a woman begged him not to forget them. He said in his withdrawal speech that ending poverty and economic inequality was the cause of his life. Then he told Leno, "What Al has done is an example of what could be done" without being president. He sees it the way I do!

Edwards was vague about how he plans to work on his life's mission. He did not say he would not run for president again or accept a position in the new presidential administration. He seems to be waiting for the best opportunity. Critics will say he's looking for the best opportunity for himself; I believe he's looking for the best opportunity to do the most good.

By the way, he also said in his withdrawal speech he had talked to Obama and Clinton and they had both
pledged to me that as President of the United States they will make ending poverty and economic inequality central to their Presidency. This is the cause of my life and I now have their commitment to engage in this cause.
Have you seen any evidence of that pledge in either Obama's or Clinton's campaign since Edwards withdrew? I haven't.

Well, let's see. John Edwards (he was my original first choice) is not fending off attacks from the media, right wing whack job world and the Bill and Hillary Clinton show as all of them try to paint who he is instead of letting him tell be focused and tell us.

Nor is John Edwards spending all of his time trying to figure out how to blow up Barack Obama's support like Hillary Clinton is.

    So that's my answer.

This race is about bullcrap rhetoric because the media likes it like that. Afterall, the longer they keep the fight up between Obama and the Clintons, the more dough they make in the primary.
