Amateur headlines
Who's writing the headlines at the RGJ these days? A recent college grad? An intern? A fourth grader?
Page 1A today, "Reno march honors military's fallen." No, it honored those who didn't fall. We honor the fallen on Memorial Day. (Although everyone gets confused about that, too.) Maybe the headline writer was confused by the national story of President Bush speaking at a ceremony an American Legion post held yesterday to honor four Texans who were killed in Iraq. OK, no wonder everyone is confused.
Page 5A today, "Leaked Michelin ratings please restauranteur." It made me cringe just to type the word with the wrong spelling, and the spell checker has highlighted it. I know they teach in basic journalism classes that it's restaurateur (and it's spelled correctly in the AP article). Come on!

Am I the last to hear that Cory Farley is leaving the RGJ? I picked up the Nov. 8-14 copy of the Reno News
